Alaska Highway

Alaska is the largest state in the US with a total area of 717 854 km². It is populated by 710,231 inhabitants. Bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north and the Bering Sea and the Pacific Ocean to the south, this area is separate from Asia via the Bering Strait. The inhabitants are Alaskans and its capital is Juneau.

The region takes its name from a long peninsula, northwest of the American continent, about 1,000 km south of the Bering Strait, and which binds to the south, to the Aleutian Islands. Alaska is the Russian version of Аляска, which means land or large peninsula. The Aleutians are people who live in the Aleutian Islands and western Alaska, closely linked physically and culturally to Eskimos.

Alaska is a former Russian territory of America, sold in the US in 1867 for $ 7.2 million.
